Apologizing and saying he believed his conduct stemmed from a desire to provide zealous advocacy for his bereaved clients was not enough for Philadelphia personal injury attorney Thomas Bosworth to stave off being sanctioned Tuesday afternoon by a federal judge for his conduct during depositions in a wrongful death lawsuit.

During a hearing in the Western District of Pennsylvania, U.S. District Judge Stephanie Haines admonished Bosworth for his conduct during a handful of depositions in McCartney v. Kids2, in which the judge found he “engaged in dozens and dozens of personal attacks” against opposing counsel, coached witnesses, lodged improper objections and violated the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure Rule 30, which mandates concise and non-argumentative objections.
