Philadelphia has agreed to pay more than $9 million to settle claims from hundreds of protestors who alleged they were subjected to police abuses during the 2020 protests following the murder of George Floyd.
Attorneys handling the civil litigation announced Monday that settlements for roughly 350 plaintiffs who sued the city will total $9.25 million. According to the announcement, the award, which settles four separate lawsuits, is the largest ever paid by the city to settle claims arising from a mass protest.
