Barbara Oaks Silver, long-time partner of Astor Weiss Kaplan & Mandel, died on Aug. 21 from Parkinson’s disease at her home on Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia at the age of 87, according to an obituary by the firm.

The obituary notes that Silver was a “trailblazer in the legal profession, paving the way for generations of women.” She graduated at the top of her class at Temple University School of Law and was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 1969 while raising her son, Robert, as a single mother.
