One of the things I value most about my law practice is the way my work appeals both to my analytical and creative sides. As a family law attorney, I use my aptitude for language and my knowledge of the law to strategize. I also see the emotional side of divorce and the impact it has on different family units. Imagination and resourcefulness come into play in customizing unique solutions to help both parties in a marital dissolution resolve issues and move forward. Collaborative law, in particular, provides numerous ways for attorneys to flex both creative and analytical muscles. The process focuses on teamwork, respect and problem-solving. It is not only a great environment for the divorcing spouses, it also provides a rewarding experience for the attorneys and other collaborative professionals involved and a radically (and welcome) different experience from traditional litigation.

After years of collaborative experience, my favorite aspects of the process still leave me incredibly fulfilled. Here are my top three practical and creative features of the collaborative process.
