Pennsylvania’s two largest cities have proved to be an appealing destination for a number of Am Law 200 firms looking to broaden their national profile. Notably, Midwest firms Porter Wright Morris & Arthur and Armstrong Teasdale have led the charge of non-Pennsylvania-based law firms growing their presence in the commonwealth since 2017, historical data gathered by Law.com show.

In that same time period, firms launched in Pennsylvania, from global behemoths Reed Smith and K&L Gates to East Coast-focused litigation shop Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, have downsized the lawyers they have in the commonwealth as they have set their sights on expanding into outside geographic markets.
