On the eve of trial in a case brought by two former Philadelphia police officers against the city, a federal judge addressed a litany of objections by both sides.

Jury selection began Tuesday in the case, in which former police officers Audra McCowan and Jennifer Allen allege then-Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross failed to investigate McCowan’s claims of sexual harassment in the workplace due to a personal vendetta. According to McCowan, she and Ross were engaged in a two-year relationship and his retaliation was a result of her ending that affair.
