Kathryn Kolbert, the attorney and author who argued Planned Parenthood v. Casey before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1992, urged attorneys to become politically active as she delivered the keynote address at an abortion rights-focused event hosted by the New York County Lawyers Association on Wednesday.

NYCLA organizers noted that the event was planned before Politico published the draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization on Monday, and Kolbert said she had expected to spend “a fair amount of time” trying to convince her audience that the current court is indeed prepared to overturn Roe v. Wade.
