When preparing for a civil trial in July, Marion County Superior Court Judge Heather Welch wasn’t required to mandate masks in her courtroom given that COVID-19 numbers were declining. But she still chose to seat prospective jurors in the gallery, where they could be farther apart from one another.
Once jurors were picked, however, she had a question for them: Did they want to move to the jury box?
