I am an attorney who has pending disciplinary cases against me and may well be suspended for a period of time. I want to be able to work as a paralegal during my suspension. A lawyer asked me to try his criminal cases for him and work out of his office while I am still licensed, and then they will hire me as a paralegal afterwards. Is there anything wrong with doing that?

On the surface, clearly, there is nothing wrong with an attorney working for another lawyer. Although that attorney may have disciplinary issues that could result in that attorney not being able to practice due to a suspension or disbarment in the future, nothing would prohibit the attorney from working now. Clearly, the attorney would want to let the new attorney know about the potential problem because it would be unfair for them to train someone or work with someone and then have them available five or six months, or a year later.
