According to statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, "the defendants conspired to defraud investors in a limited partnership that was represented as an investment in cryptocurrency. Investor funds were not invested in the manner represented to investors but were rather diverted into the defendants’ personal accounts and provided to entities having nothing to do with cryptocurrency."

A northwestern Pennsylvania attorney and his brother have been charged by a federal grand jury with allegedly scamming cryptocurrency investors out of tens of millions of dollars.
The 65-count indictment against attorney Sean Hvizdzak, 35, of Saint Marys, and his brother Shane Hvizdzak, 33, of Bradford, charges the pair with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and money laundering. The two also face a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission civil action.
