The times they are a changing. The world has changed a lot since those days long ago, that is, before the pandemic began and lawyers discovered that they were no longer entering courtrooms and were instead appearing on Zoom, Webex and similar platforms.

As a result of the sudden transition to a remote, videoconferencing format, lawyers have taken a lot for granted. They discovered the dangers of having a cat image project on the screen, of suddenly discovering that their home Wi-Fi isn’t reliable enough to handle the demands of remote lawyering, and of learning that they need to focus their webcams so that they only appear on camera from their chests up. And, of course, they need to remember to unmute themselves before speaking.
