I am a young lawyer and I have heard that there were customs or traditions that are no longer followed. What are some of the customs and traditions in year’s past for members of the bar?

Law is a profession and like any profession, there are customs and traditions that develop around it. These customs and traditions were for the purpose of emphasizing the professional nature of the practice of law as opposed to a business or money-making occupation. The purpose was to also develop a respect and awe for both the legal and judicial profession. Unfortunately, many of these customs have disappeared.
