A doctor who sued his former employer for allegedly firing and replacing him with younger physicians does not need to provide their exact ages in his discrimination lawsuit against the hospital, a federal appeals court has ruled.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit reversed the dismissal of surgeon Dr. Zeferino Martinez’s age discrimination lawsuit against UPMC Susquehanna, ruling that age can come out in discovery, according to Judge Stephanos Bibas’ Jan. 29 precedential opinion.
