The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has dismissed the wrongful use of civil proceedings lawsuit that medical malpractice defense attorney Nancy Raynor brought against a group of lawyers who sought a $1 million sanction against her more than five years ago.

The ruling, which holds that posttrial motions cannot form the basis for wrongful use of civil proceedings lawsuits, is being hailed by defense attorneys as a significant win in protecting lawyers from “piecemeal” wrongful use of civil proceedings suits.
