Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Daniel Anders has been named supervising judge of the First Judicial District’s civil division, the court announced Monday.

Anders, Philadelphia’s first openly gay male judge, fills the vacancy left by Lisette Shirdan-Harris, who was named administrative judge of the Trial Division last month.
