The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has ruled that the Pennsylvania gun and mental health laws are not unconstitutional by prohibiting gun ownership for those with a history of commitment for mental health issues.

A three-judge panel upheld a lower court’s rejection of two John Doe plaintiffs’ constitutional challenge to the Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act and Section 302 of the state’s Mental Health Procedures Act. The plaintiffs claimed the laws deprived them of their Second and 14th amendment rights.
