I am a suspended lawyer who wants to apply for reinstatement. I cannot remember if I filed a certificate of compliance after I notified my clients of my suspension. Is that a problem?

It could be a problem, but hopefully it is a resolvable problem. Over the years, there were problems with suspended or disbarred lawyers not properly sending notices to their clients. There is a form letter the Office of Disciplinary Counsel wants used. One can add to the letter, but the first two paragraphs of the letter are critical, which essentially advise of the suspension or disbarment and provide the clients their rights. This is obviously very important because many clients were not being told of the suspension or disbarment and that, of course, created chaos. At times, in the past, the president judge of the county involved had to appoint a conservator.
