A Pittsburgh judge violated the Code of Judicial Conduct and the Pennsylvania Constitution when he made racist and prejudicial statements regarding cases before him, according to a formal disciplinary complaint filed by the state’s Judicial Conduct Board.

The JCB on Wednesday filed the charges against Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Mark Tranquilli, who was sidelined earlier this year following reports that he referred to a Black female juror as “Aunt Jemima” and suggested she had a “baby daddy” who dealt illegal drugs.
