The judge who presided over a 2016 trial that ended with a $70 million award for a child allegedly injured by Risperdal has urged the Pennsylvania Superior Court to uphold the verdict.

Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Paula Patrick issued a lengthy opinion Wednesday in the case, A.Y. v. Janssen Pharmaceuticals, which involved a male plaintiff who claimed that the anti-psychotic medication caused him to grow excessive breast tissue. The award was by far the largest out of the more than 6,000-strong mass tort litigation consolidated in Philadelphia.
