Blank Rome associate Kathy E. Herman was appointed to the national board of directors of Minds Matter, a nonprofit organization that provides a multiyear comprehensive program designed to help accomplished high school students from low-income families achieve college readiness and success.
Herman will serve on the board for a three-year term, where she will provide direction for the program and help oversee the progress of Minds Matter's mission.
At Blank Rome, Herman maintains a practice focused on providing strategic advice and counsel to companies, management, and entrepreneurs on a broad variety of corporate, commercial and securities issues.

Goodell, DeVries, Leech & Dann promoted Margaret O'Neill to partner and Hillary Cleckler joined the firm as an associate.
O'Neill represents clients in complex litigation matters nationwide, focusing her practice on products liability defense involving pharmaceuticals, medical devices and material handling equipment.
Cleckler's practice is focused primarily on defending health care providers and health care institutions in professional liability matters.

McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Andrew Rusniak is set to present at RKL's Not-for-Profit Forum at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel on Thursday.
Rusniak will discuss common mistakes in nonprofit governance and organizational practices.
He will explain how to spot these mistakes, how to avoid them to ensure compliance, and best practices for good governance.
Rusniak is a member of the McNees Wallace estate planning and corporate and tax practice groups and has experience in the formation and operation of nonprofit entities including private foundations, public charities, supporting organizations and other tax-exempt organizations.

Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young attorney Kristen M. Gibbons Feden spoke at NALS of Pennsylvania Annual Conference on May 5 in King of Prussia.
Feden's presentation, “The Global Child Abuse Epidemic With a Local Solution,” discussed laws that protect children and adults against perpetrators who commit crimes of a sexual nature, crimes that result in injury and the role local law enforcement and advocacy agencies play to further protect children.
Feden concentrates her practice on complex commercial and class action litigation and white-collar defense.

After leading the firm's corporate and tax practice for the last 47 years, Michael O'Hara Peale Jr., is set to retire at the end of May from Timoney Knox.
Peale began with the firm in 1971 and served as managing partner from 1987 until July 2007.
He heads the firm's corporate and tax practice and has a background in the formation of corporations and other business entities and helping clients buy and sell businesses.
He also has expertise in estate and trust administration.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
