We all think about how we want to retire—what we want to do in our spare time, where we want to live after work location and schools don’t matter. I admit, I am not close to retirement. But that doesn’t mean I can’t think about it. In a recent trip out west, my husband and I discussed how beautiful it would be to retire out there, with the awe inspiring views, clean air, abundance of nature and endless outdoor activities. But what also comes to mind is legacy. What do I want to leave behind in my work? What do I want to be remembered for? I know it won’t be my rambling editor notes, but maybe it will be my true appreciation for the Texas legal community. I guess time will tell.

This brings me to our two inside features this month. They both epitomize legacy and the wisdom that comes in our later years. How a lifelong calling is made possible by retirement. Or how over four decades of helping others in need can be passed on to the next generation.
