Mexico, as part of the country’s initiative to attract outside investors, recently agreed to use the American Petroleum Institute’s safety standards in its energy programs to promote worker safety at offshore drilling sites.

Mexico announced June 13 that its oil and natural gas regulatory agency, the National Agency for Industrial Safety and Environmental Protection of the Hydrocarbons Sector, signed a memorandum of understanding with American Petroleum Institute that ensures the trade association’s technical and safety standards will be used in the Mexican agency’s programs.
