Even with declining oil and gas prices, the Texas oil and gas industry still needs to get its products to market. As such, natural gas, crude oil, and liquids pipelines are being planned to transport products from the Midland/Odessa area and other oil producing areas to Houston and other parts of East Texas. In fact, Energy Transfer’s subsidiary, Trans-Pecos Pipeline, plans to construct the first pipeline of its kind across Big Bend.

With these ongoing projects, landowners across Texas will find themselves as targets of yet another pipeline project. The pipeline company may also threaten to exercise rights of eminent domain or condemnation, the process which permits certain pipeline companies to take private property so long as just and adequate compensation is paid.
