While most people weren’t looking, billions of things got connected to the Internet in what is known as IoT (Internet of Things), and no doubt there are now many IoT devices in offices, homes, and in the middle of every lawsuit in which attorneys are engaged. But what the heck are we talking about?

Even though we can tell what IoT includes (think items like GPS devices in a cellphone/tablet and car, remote security monitoring systems, point of sale cash registers, satellites circling the globe, home thermostats, FedEx & UPS delivery trucks, airplanes in the sky, medically implanted drug delivery devices, etc.), there is a great deal of difference on the opinion of just how many IoT devices exist.
