Halliburton announced on Sept. 2 that it reached a $1.1 billion proposed settlement with the majority of the plaintiffs class with claims related to the 2010 BP oil spill on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company’s statement said the deal included legal fees and is subject to court approval. According to the settlement agreement Halliburturn filed in In Re: Oil Spill by the Oil Rig “Deepwater Horizon” in the Gulf of Mexico, the company will pay no more than $99.95 million to plaintiffs counsel, with an initial payment of $33.35 million.
