More than 30 employees of the Travis County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit will get notices that their positions will be eliminated because Gov. Rick Perry vetoed the unit’s funding.

The Travis County Commissioners Court on July 2 voted unanimously to send notice of a “reduction in force,” effective Sept. 30. Commissioners could reinstate the jobs if funding becomes available. They will discuss appropriating county funding, and they’ll watch the progress of House Concurrent Resolution 1 in the second special session. HCR 1 would overturn Perry’s veto and restore $7.57 million to cover the unit’s 2014 and 2015 expenses.
