Reasons for termination were legitimate, employer claimed
On Dec. 3, 2012, a jury sided with an employer that fired an accountant who claimed gender discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation. Roxanne Daugherty worked for TXU Retail Services in Dallas. Daugherty claimed that beginning in 2008 her male supervisors began to exhibit discriminatory and harassing behavior. She also filed complaints that her work hours did not allow her to care for her children. As a result, her supervisors revoked her flex-time privileges, increased her workload and gave her negative performance reviews before terminating her, she claimed. Defense counsel argued that all decisions made regarding Daugherty’s employment were made for legitimate, nondiscriminatory business reasons and in good faith compliance relevant employment laws.
