Chairman T. Mark Kelly says he and managing partner Scott Wulfe focused on profitability and productivity in 2012 — their first year at the helm of Vinson & Elkins of Houston — and he’s pleased average profits per partner improved to $1,470,000, up 8.5 percent in 2012.

Revenue per lawyer at V&E was $875,000 in 2012, up 4.2 percent when compared to 2011. However, gross revenue, at $592 million, declined by 2.6 percent in 2012, and net income came in at $241 million, an 8.7 percent drop compared to 2011.
