Net income at Andrews Kurth improved by 6.9 percent in 2012, compared to 2011, and average profits per partner in the Houston-based firm jumped by 12.5 percent.

Net income was $109 million in 2012 and PPP were $1,170,000.

The firm’s gross revenue was $286 million, up 5.9 percent compared to 2011, and revenue per lawyer was $820,000, up 5.8 percent compared to the previous year.

"Our results were driven by activity levels, really, across all the practice groups and offices," says Robert Jewell, the firm’s managing partner.

"We’re pleased to be where we are," he says.While the firm does a lot of work for energy companies, Jewell says the firm’s client roster is diverse. Among the firm’s five top clients are an energy client, an insurance/health-care client and a technology client, he says.

"It’s not all energy, and we saw an increase in capital markets activity and an increase in M&A activity," he says.

The firm had 348 full-time equivalent lawyers in 2012, down one lawyer from 2011.

The firm’s Texas offices are in Austin, Dallas, Houston and The Woodlands, and other offices are in London, Durham, N.C., Washington, D.C., Beijing, and New York City.
