In 2008, the famed missing-person search group based in Dickinson — Texas Equusearch Mounted Search and Recovery — spent more than $100,000 on two large-scale but futile searches in Florida for the missing 2-year-old daughter of Casey Anthony.
On July 12, days after a jury in Orlando found Casey Anthony not guilty of murdering her daughter, Caylee, Texas Equusearch (TES) filed a complaint against Casey Anthony alleging she fraudulently represented to the organization that Caylee was alive and missing when in fact she was dead, and Casey was unjustly enriched as a result. TES seeks recovery of the money it spent on the Florida searches.
