Nueces County 28th District Court Judge Retirement Draws Three Candidates

Nueces County 28th District Court Judge Nanette Hassette, after serving 26 years, announced in 2023 she would not seek reelection.

The pending vacancy motivated one Democrat, Carlos Valdez—who is unopposed in the primary—and two Republicans, Laura Allison Ramos and Michael McCauley, to run for the open seat.
