Lawyer burnout is a big concern in the legal industry, with some firms understaffed in a heated lawyer hiring market, and lawyers are working harder to keep up with demand. Jen Cafferty Patton, chief legal talent officer at Foley & Lardner, discusses strategies that law firm leaders can follow to prevent burnout and attrition at their firms.

Based in Houston, Patton joined Foley & Lardner two years ago. She is responsible for overseeing the Am Law 100 firm’s legal talent development structure, and she leads all attorney recruitment, development and retention efforts, as well as all coaching and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
