Fifth District Court of Appeals judges sided with CBS-owned television station KTVT Channel 11 in dismissing a defamation lawsuit after a newscast published the incorrect mugshot of a bank robbery suspect, which had been provided by law enforcement.
Cedric Burns filed the initial lawsuit in the 101st Judicial District in January 2020, claiming CBS defamed him and caused infliction of emotional distress during a newscast in 2019 by using his photo instead of the correct suspect.
