Two parents will be the first accused of involvement in the college admissions scandal to go on trial next week in Boston, more than two years after federal prosecutors charged dozens in the “Varsity Blues” scam.

Two Big Law firms are defending Gamal Abdelaziz, a former casino and hotel executive, and John Wilson, a private equity firm founder and former Staples Inc. executive, who are among the few charged who have pleaded not guilty. The pair will go on trial Sept. 13 to fight fraud and bribery charges, with the public able to view the proceedings virtually. Jury selection begins Wednesday.
