The Supreme Court of Texas on Thursday granted Gov. Greg Abbott’s motion for a stay of an injunction allowing Bexar County to require masks in public schools.

Abbott has asked the state’s highest court to overturn a decision allowing Bexar County and San Antonio to issue mask mandates at schools and other public buildings. That decision, granted Aug. 10 by District Judge Antonia “Toni” Arteaga, was affirmed by the Fourth Court of Appeals on Aug. 19.
