In what chairman Richard Hays called a “strong but odd year,” Alston & Bird’s revenue and profit increased in 2020 as the firm saw heavy demand for partner time and work spiked by the end of the year.

“December was the busiest month in the firm’s history—exceeded only by work in January,” said Hays. One core practice, finance, was very busy throughout the year, and, surprisingly, Hays said, the litigation practice was not as impacted as expected from court closures, ending the year roughly flat.
