Bringing cardboard boxes was a last-minute demonstrative aid that plaintiffs attorney Mo Aziz arranged just before a trial–that ended with a $4 million jury verdict in his favor.

The jury would be hearing complicated engineering explanations about why design defects had caused a piece of heavy machinery to fall on client Chuck Pruitt and drastically injure his leg. The cardboard boxes were meant to illustrate how the machinery’s design could have been improved, by replacing one circular component with a square shape like the boxes, explained Aziz.
