U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen of the Southern District of Texas ruled in favor of a Houston-based commodities trading company this month, finding that its exports had been unconstitutionally taxed.
Trafigura Trading sued the United States in January 2019, arguing that the Export Clause of the U.S. Constitution meant its crude oil exports had been improperly taxed.
