Ex-Judge Rudy Delgado, who’s serving time in federal prison for a judicial bribery conviction, will not gain compassionate release because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Noting that Delgado has only served six months of a five-year sentence, Judge Alfred Bennett of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas denied a motion by Delgado that argued he is elderly and has a host of medical problems that put him at high risk of serious illness or death if he contracted the virus in prison.
