Sumner Schick, a 13-lawyer litigation and business firm in Dallas, has expanded its practice offerings to include health care, having hired former in-house lawyer Vern Clemons.
Clemons, who does compliance and transactions work, will lead the firm’s move into the health care sector.
Clemons comes from Medcillary in Dallas, where she had been general counsel since April. Prior to that, she held in-house positions at Fresenius Medical Care North America in Irving and at Baxter International in the Chicago area.
Steve Sumner, managing partner of the firm, said Sumner Schick’s clients will benefit from Clemons’ expertise.
“With nearly 20 years of legal experience, Vern is a seasoned pro at navigating the complex regulatory landscape of the current health care industry,” Sumner said in a statement.
Clemons said she was attracted to the firm’s “long-term vision.”
Sumner Schick does complex commercial litigation, including information technology disputes, False Claims Act and Qui Tam matters, antitrust, corporate fraud and unfair competition work.
