The American Bar Association on Tuesday announced proposed changes to its model ethics rules that supporters say would streamline a complex set of regulations surrounding lawyer advertisements.

The potential lawyer advertising updates are part of a larger set of proposals that, the ABA said, will be up for consideration by the ABA House of Delegates during the tail end of the bar association’s annual meeting, which begins on Aug. 2 in Chicago. The delegates—a body of 601 members from state, local and other bar associations and legal groups—are set to meet on Aug. 6-7, the ABA said.
