U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, claiming a “dangerous movement” is eroding religious freedom, on Monday named two top department officials to lead a new team to ramp up enforcement of religious liberty protections in federal laws.

The two attorneys—Jesse Panuccio, the acting associate attorney general and a former Foley & Lardner partner, and Beth Williams, head of the DOJ’s legal policy office and a former Kirkland & Ellis partner—will oversee implementation of the Justice Department’s faith-focused guidance on cases, arguments, policies and regulations.
