Google won a ruling from a federal judge in San Jose, California, finding that a Canadian Supreme Court ruling barring the company from publishing certain search results runs askew of a U.S. law which shields internet publishers from liability from content created by third-parties.

U.S. District Judge Edward Davila found that the June 2017 ruling from the Canadian high court would eliminate legal immunities for web service providers, given under U.S. law through Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (CDA).
