Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner appeared in court for the first time as the city’s top prosecutor Monday morning to address why his office chose to seek a life without parole plea deal, rather than the death penalty in a closely watched case involving the fatal shooting of Philadelphia Police Sgt. Robert Wilson.

“The death penalty in Pennsylvania is not what people think it is,” Krasner said. “The reality is people are not executed in Pennsylvania. They die in custody on death row.”
