The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission can’t shake a former Philadelphia City Councilman’s lawsuit that claimed the agency improperly fired him for requesting time off to campaign for an unsuccessful run for a state senate post.

U.S. District Judge Robert Mariani on Friday denied the turnpike’s efforts to have Philly politico Daniel Savage’s case tossed on summary judgment. The ruling came in a lengthy, 70-page opinion filled with interesting tidbits about Philly politics and a commission that’s had its fair share of scandals.
