Joanne Murray, a partner of Antheil Maslow & MacMinn in the firm’s business and finance practice group, was elected president of the board of directors of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Pennsylvania, Bucks County chapter at its September board meeting. Murray helps to guide entrepreneurs and closely held businesses through the new entity formation process and to structure, negotiate and implement business transactions such as asset and stock acquisitions, mergers, financing transactions, real estate purchases and leases and business separations. She also assists her business and nonprofit clients with negotiating a wide range of contracts, such as software licenses, consulting agreements, employment agreements and nondisclosure agreements.
McNees Wallace & Nurick is set to host a state and local tax (SALT) seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 4:25 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Hollywood Casino in Grantville. The seminar is titled, “A Day of Sales and Use Tax for Pennsylvania Businesses,” and is scheduled to feature two guest speakers, Lauren A. Zaccarelli, chair of the Department of Revenue Board of Appeals, and Karen M. Gard, acting chief deputy attorney general of the tax litigation unit. McNees Wallace SALT practice group chair Randy L. Varner will be presenting sessions along with McNees Wallace attorneys Paul R. Morcom and Sharon R. Paxton. Varner has more than 18 years of experience in commercial litigation and state and local taxation. Morcom has more than 15 years of experience regarding state and local tax litigation. Paxton is vice-chair of the state and local tax group. Meyer, Unkovic & Scott partners Ronald L. Hicks Jr. and Kevin F. Israel are scheduled presenters during the National Business Institute’s CLE teleconference, which is scheduled to take place from 2–3:30 p.m. Nov. 13. The program “Drafting an Asset Purchase Agreement: Key Provisions” will cover the legal issues associated with purchase agreements including transactional preparation, team assembly and tax matters. Hicks is a trial lawyer who handles emergency, complex and appellate litigation matters for his clients. Israel is a member of the firm’s corporate and business law, MUSolutions and private clients practice groups.
Barley Snyder attorney Michael J. Crocenzi was named 2017 Volunteer of the Year by Bethesda Mission of Harrisburg. Crocenzi, who joined Barley Snyder in July, has been a volunteer at the mission for 10 years and was on the organization’s board of directors from 2007-10. Crocenzi is a member of the firm’s employment law and litigation practice groups. He also works in workers’ compensation, employment litigation and labor law.
