LinkedIn’s senior manager, trust and safety, Caroline Goulding has a recent update to her own LinkedIn profile—she’s left the San Francisco Bay Area for Dublin, where she is serving as the company’s first data protection officer.

Under the European Union’s recently implemented General Data Protection Regulation, certain companies that process EU citizens’ data, including Sunnyvale, California-based LinkedIn, must appoint a DPO to oversee compliance. A number of tech companies have appointed privacy and safety lawyers from their in-house teams to fill this role.
