Countering Cable Piracy

Cable television is big business, and with it comes big losses. Cable-signal theft costs the industry an estimated $6 billion a year. A pair of lawyers at the Pennsylvania firm of Wisler Pearlstine who successfully sued sellers of piracy devices are once again cracking down on signal thieves. This time, they're drafting legislation which would amend the state's Unlawful Telecommunications Devices Act. The proposed statute would set the stiffest penalties against cable signal theft in the nation.
