
There's no real shortage of lawyers in the U.S., but there is a significant lack of legal aid lawyers in the U.S. assisting the poor, with a greater disparity in some states and in rural areas nationwide, according to a new report from the American Bar Association that explored civil legal aid."This lack of legal aid lawyers matters because low-income Americans do not receive enough legal help – or any legal help at all – for 92% of their civil legal problems," the ABA wrote in the report, citing a study from the Legal Services Corp., an independent nonprofit funded by Congress.
