Weight loss business Medifast and its Optavia subsidiary were hit with a consumer class action Friday in California Southern District Court alleging that the defendants' surreptitiously enroll customers in an automatic renewal plan. The suit, backed by Dovel & Luner and Golomb Spirt Grunfeld, also claims that the company dodges and delays requests to cancel subscriptions. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 3:22-cv-00434, Zeller v. Optavia, LLC et al.
